Nov 27, 2017 | Hulhangu Nakaiy, Local Information, Nakaiy, Weather

Dhosha Nakaiy

Dhosha is the 18th nakaiy of the monsoon. It’s the last nakaiy of Hulhangu monsoon. Light north-easterly winds, with sunny but cloudy days and light showers.

Fishing is good.

WEATHER

Days are quite cloudy and foggy with scattered showers and few thunderstorms across the country. Showers are expected to be light with few becoming a thunderstorm. 13 days of showers are expected during the month of December, with average temperature being at 25 degrees Celsius. Expect to get around 7 hours of sunshine on average every day. Not bad for a full day fishing trip. For this month fishing arsenal, be sure to pack a rain coat – just for good measure.

WIND

End of Hulhangu (westerly winds) monsoon, with winds changing directions rapidly becoming quite unpredictable. Iruvai monsoon (easterly winds) approaches and wind will settle down at the middle of December. Dhosha blows northwesterly at 4 – 14 mph in nothern atolls. Winds are expected to be at an average speed of 7 mph reaching 27 mph during showers. Seas are expected to be calm becoming moderate during showers. Boat rides are expected to be smooth with few becoming bumpy.

FISHING

Fishing is generally good during this period. Fishing peaks from 1st till 7th December. 6 days in this nakaiy are major days for fishing.

Early morning trolling for Wahoo is excellent while night jigging is generally good for some Bigeye Tuna.

Full moon falls on a weekend starting from 2nd of December and would be excellent for night fishing. Highly recommend night fishing starting from 1st December till 5th December. Weekend anglers better use these days for some local fishing.

TOP CATCH

Bigeye Tuna (loabodu kanneli) is famous during this period with large schools found near FAD’s and Wahoo (kurumas) near the outskirts of reef.

Blue and Black Marlin are also becoming a frequent catch with live bait.
